We are: The Library Studio

A video team that's an extension of your team.

based in
San Diego

Behind the camera and in the edit room.

We've spent the last twelve years honing our craft so you can focus on your mission. From editing ads to training videos, nonprofit fundraising, and documentaries, we've shot and cut it all. We specialize in shooting and editing documentaries, behind-the-scenes, interviews, events, and unscripted stories.

We can draw compelling stories from people and have a talent for trimming interviews. We approach every project by listening, learning, and problem-solving to find a creative solution.

Your goals are our goals. We work alongside you to create videos and films that inspire and entertain.

Nelson

I have more than a decade of experience working behind the camera and editing across a variety of NLEs. I grew up making videos, became a video producer, worked for several nonprofits and ad agencies, and filmed in seven different countries. I’m focused on making documentaries, shooting BTS, and editing unscripted videos and films.

Nelson

When I was child I was a frequent liar so now I am a great storyteller. I do not view the world the way most do so I became good at asking the questions nobody is going to ask. My “lack of filter” has helped in getting honest answers and raw moments. I work with Matthew to help him navigate each new video project and film and run all of the business and operations side of things at our studio. I’m currently writing several different books.

Just a few nonprofits and brands we've worked with.

AMOR

A nonprofit that builds homes alongside families in Mexico, South Africa, and Europe.

Sawyer

An outdoor company dedicated to bringing clean water all over the world.

San Diego Rescue Mission

A nonprofit organization bringing life change to the homeless in San Diego.

HiGHLAND HOMES

One of the largest home builders in Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, Texas.

Questions:

What's the process?

Step 1: Workshop
We start every new project by having a 1-2 hour workshop with you or your team. A few days after we meet we will pitch you the idea for the video complete with; interview questions, shot list, tone, and full production cost.

Step 2: Production
After the project has been green-lit, we will schedule shoot days and assemble the crew needed for the project. We are an all-hands-on-deck kind of team when we work on location and collaborate with our clients.

Step 3: Post-Production
This is where all of our hard work comes together and we start building out your video or film. Before we start the edit, we will provide you with the interview transcripts and work with you to highlight any specific moments from the interviews. From there we will begin to do the heavy lifting of building out your video or film.

Step 4: Deliver
We will send you a Frame.io link where you can make notes and mention any changes you want to the video. We typically do three rounds of corrections and then will send you a link to download the final cut of the video.
