Filmmaker Bio

Matthew Q. Nelson is a Dallas, Texas based filmmaker whose work began with human-centered storytelling at the intersection of care, crisis, and community. He is known for collaborations with organizations such as World Central Kitchen and GoFundMe, documenting humanitarian efforts and the individuals impacted by them.

Nelson is the filmmaker behind the short documentary films Doors That Lock and The Mourning Of: The Making Of, a behind-the-scenes film created for a Warner Bros. +OneFifty sponsored film.

He has also contributed as a cinematographer to multiple feature documentaries supported through The Gotham Film & Media Institute’s fiscal sponsorship program and has worked across a range of branded and independent productions, with a focus on intimate, observational narratives that elevate voices.
